Still Learning
Last weekend, I attended the Regional Assembly for our denomination in Edmond. One requirement was attending Healthy Boundaries training. I’ll be honest, I did not learn anything new there, as I have taken that training many times before.
However, I did pick up good stuff at other points in the assembly. I went to a workshop on using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in ministry. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I learned and the ideas I picked up. While AI can’t replace a pastor and needs its input verified, it can be highly helpful.
For example, I picked up the idea that it can help to get things started when I have a blank page for whatever I am doing. It can help start a policy, Bible study, or provide sermon feedback. I also learned about using it to help create short sermon outlines for children and youth. Another great idea I gathered was to use AI to help write devotionals that follow up on the sermon, which can then be emailed out.
As it was said, AI can’t replace the heart, love, or time of a pastor. However, it can certainly make work more efficient, so I can have time to do good ministry.
