A Good Practice
I have a thought to share with you. Write a sermon. You might think that is just my job. However, I encourage you to write a sermon from time to time. Here is why.
- You will be forced to study scriptures. This will expose you to the depths of the letters, poems, wisdom, and stories of the Bible. I have learned a great deal through this experience.
- You will learn how to express your faith to others even better than you already can.
- You will gain a deeper understanding of the sermons you hear. When you learn what goes into to writing a sermon, you will be able to more easily catch the message of sermons you hear.
- You will find yourself praying more for meaning and a message from the Bible.
- You will grow in your faith as you read about the lives and messages of the people in the Bible.
That is just a start to what you can learn from writing a sermon. If that sounds too imposing, try writing about a scripture or theme instead. I promise you will gain from it as I have.
